As a civilian Dental Assistant working with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), you will provide essential clinical and administrative support to dental care delivered to personnel serving in the Army, Air Force, and Navy.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide chair-side assistance to dentists, dental specialists, and hygienists during procedures.
• Perform administrative duties such as entering and updating patient records as required.
• Support oral health promotion initiatives targeted at patients.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant Defence Policies, Procedures, and compliance standards.
• Maintain the cleanliness, hygiene, and optimal condition of the dental surgery environment.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a Certificate III in Dental Assisting or an equivalent nationally recognized qualification.
• Demonstrated compliance with relevant dental standards and Defence procedures.
• Have at least two years of full-time equivalent chair-side dental assisting experience within the past five years.
• Participation in recent Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
• Current certification in First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009).

Additional Information About Location and Employer

The role is based at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island, approximately 45 km south of Perth, Western Australia. Stirling provides operational and logistical support to the Royal Australian Navy. The health centre offers various medical services including dental care, typically operating 07:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. This is a civilian position requiring Australian citizenship to obtain Baseline Security Clearance.
