Role Summary

The Data Scientist will primarily report to the Global Head of Data Science Consulting in the Life & Health division. This senior role involves significantly enhancing PartnerRe’s Life & Health offerings through advanced analytics and modeling.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and analytics consultancy to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement predictive models to support business objectives.
  • Import, clean, and analyze data to estimate morbidity and mortality outcomes and their influencing factors.
  • Create compelling data-driven narratives and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Conduct research on applying advanced analytics to emerging and existing areas.
  • Contribute to the professional development of self and colleagues in analytic methodologies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced statistical and modeling expertise typically gained through graduate education and professional experience.
  • Proficiency in programming with R and Python for statistical analysis and model building.
  • Experience with a variety of analytic approaches such as regression techniques, modern machine learning (e.g., tree-based models), survival analysis, and discrete data modeling.
  • Familiar with Linux environments, SQL databases, and Shiny is an advantage.
  • Capable of independent work and collaborative support.

Desired Soft Skills

  • Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills suited for an international, multicultural workplace.
  • Ability to lead complex projects autonomously while also working effectively as a team member.

Experience

  • A minimum of five years of post-graduate experience in a quantitative analytics role.
  • Extensive experience in the insurance sector is preferred, specifically within Life and/or Health insurance.
  • Experience in (re)insurance is beneficial but not mandatory.

Education

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline required.
  • PhD holders in quantitative fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Additional industry designations or certifications are a plus.
