Job description
Role Overview and Key Functions
- Validate tariff classifications within customs documentation files to ensure accuracy.
- Keep an updated internal clearance record to monitor shipment progress.
- Adhere strictly to customs and local governmental regulations during all stages of the clearance process.
- Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, suppliers, and contractors to guarantee smooth shipment operations in alignment with SOPs and client expectations.
- Prepare customs documentation and upload it to the designated web server for accessibility.
- Coordinate with the finance department to request payments for duties and taxes associated with shipments.
- Complete and forward manifests for all shipments as required.
- Track shipment status continuously, updating internal systems including the Operations log and Cargo Wise according to company policies.
- Proactively follow up with shipping companies regarding arrival notifications to maintain up-to-date information.
- Prepare and submit necessary export documentation in compliance with customs procedures.
- Maintain direct communication with customs brokers to gain updated clearance details.
- Assist physically with dispatching shipments when required to support operations.
- Ensure shipments are delivered to customers following established SOPs and customer requirements.
- Apply for all customs permits required to facilitate clearance processes.
- Review customer invoices carefully to verify accuracy and authenticity.
- Support delivery order processing within the Port Community System (PCS).
- Identify and report any discrepancies or non-conformities, suggesting process improvements within the role.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess at least a Bachelor's degree.
- Have a minimum of one year of experience in roles with similar responsibilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications essential for daily tasks.
- Familiar with AFR and OFR operations, specifically shipment handling, documentation, and customs clearance procedures.
