About the Role
The position is for a Customer Service Assistant, available for both male and female candidates, based in Saudi Arabia with locations in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Khobar. This is a full-time onsite role under a yearly renewable contract, reporting to the Customer Service Manager. The hourly wage is set at 40 SAR. The role primarily supports daily customer service operations by acting as the first point of contact either at the front office or via the call centre, and gathers customer feedback for continual service improvement.

Role Context and Responsibilities
As part of one of the busiest customer service centers in the region, the assistant is crucial to smooth and efficient service delivery. Responsibilities include administrative tasks such as photocopying, assisting with display materials, managing publicity documents, and ensuring the waiting areas and testing sites are tidy and well-equipped. Customer care duties involve welcoming visitors, managing queue systems, updating customers about placement tests, answering inquiries professionally, and supporting telephone surveys.
The role also involves preparing placement test rooms and related materials, responding courteously and promptly to all face-to-face, phone, and email queries in line with British Council standards, helping the Teaching Centre and Exams teams with registration support, and ensuring inquiries are routed appropriately. Promotion of British Council products and executing call center administrative and financial tasks are also part of the duties. The working hours may span 9:00 to 21:00 from Saturday through Thursday, including potential weekend and out-of-hours work to meet operational demands.
Key Interactions
The customer service team interfaces with over 15,000 teaching centre students, more than 30,000 exam candidates annually, and handles up to 35,000 monthly inquiries. These include requests for course information, examination details, certification, partnership queries, booking assistance, and complaint resolution. The role requires close collaboration with Customer Service, Teaching Centre, Exams, and project teams.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Applicants must be Saudi nationals with a valid and transferable Iqama.
- A minimum educational attainment of a diploma, high school, or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in customer service-related roles.
- Strong proficiency in both spoken and written English and Arabic.
- Competence in communication and influencing, basic technological literacy, and account management at entry levels.
- Ability to work under British Council core behavioural competencies including connection, teamwork, accountability, delivery, shared purpose, and innovation.
Additional Information
- Direct contact or managing of staff working with children is involved; however, no additional police check is required.
- Shift work covers a broad schedule to accommodate customer needs within organizational constraints.
