Job description
Overview
This role places you as an Installation Specialist within one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, where you'll deliver and install a variety of products like furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TVs directly into customers' homes. You will work as part of a two-person team operating a 7.5-tonne vehicle, requiring you to be at least 18 years old.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the John Lewis brand by delivering exceptional customer service at all times.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team to load your delivery vehicle with daily orders.
- Show respect and care for customers’ homes and adeptly handle unexpected situations, finding solutions that satisfy customers.
- Efficiently and carefully install products, instructing customers on their use post-installation.
- Stay informed about new products and technologies related to your responsibilities.
- Maintain a safe working environment throughout your duties.
Please note this position involves substantial manual handling of large items, including sofas, appliances, sports gear, furniture, beds, and mattresses.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Previous installation experience is necessary; training will be provided for accreditation.
- Holder of a Manual C1 UK driving licence with a clean record (maximum 6 points).
- Possession of DCPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) or Driver Qualification Card upon starting.
- Must have a Tachograph Card.
- Proven experience driving 7.5-tonne vehicles.
- Experience working directly with customers.
- Strong verbal communication abilities including phone and face-to-face interactions.
- Good technological literacy.
Desirable Skills
- Experience installing and disconnecting white goods.
- Skills in TV installation.
- Competence in assembling flat-pack furniture.
