Job description
Role Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco in Skipton, you will represent the company to customers directly at their homes. This position involves not just driving but providing exceptional service with a friendly demeanor. The work is physical and varied, and you will mainly work alone, supported by managers and team members at the base as needed.
Work Schedule
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Monday: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Friday: 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and work area to ensure customers receive their shopping in excellent condition.
- Load the van safely, conduct necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and ready to provide great service.
- Communicate any order changes, substitutions, or short expiry products to customers clearly and politely, handling refunds when necessary to maintain a smooth customer experience.
- Handle products with care during delivery, treating every order as your own to uphold quality and customer trust.
- Deliver orders within the specified time slots, offering warm and genuine customer service at the doorstep, making customers feel valued and well cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Foster strong working relationships with colleagues to promote team morale and deliver excellent customer service.
- Be friendly and welcoming both to customers and team members.
- Adapt quickly to changing needs and circumstances on the road and in the store.
- Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) for at least one year with no more than three penalty points.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay at 3.45 to 3.85 per hour, with increased rates for locations within the M25 and possible additional payments.
- A guaranteed minimum of 12 to 16 hours of work per week.
- Holiday entitlement starting at 20 days plus a personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months, in addition to Bank Holidays.
