About the Role
As a Customer Delivery Driver representing Tesco on the road, you will serve as the friendly face meeting customers directly at their homes. This role involves more than just driving—it focuses on assisting customers and delivering outstanding service with a positive attitude. The position is physically engaging and dynamic, with varying daily tasks. You will primarily work independently during your shifts, supported by a team of managers and colleagues at the base whenever required.
Starting pay for this role is £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour in Tesco stores located within the M25 area. Some locations may have additional pay incentives. A guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week is offered, with some roles available for 12 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure your van, trays, and work environment are kept clean, organized, and tidy to guarantee customers receive their deliveries in perfect condition.
- Safely load the delivery van and perform all necessary checks to confirm it is fit for the road and ready to provide excellent service.
- Communicate clearly and warmly with customers regarding any changes in their orders, including substitutions or items nearing expiration, offering refunds when appropriate to maintain a smooth and positive customer experience.
- Handle all products with care, treating each order as if it were your own to maintain quality and trust.
- Deliver orders punctually within the customer's designated time window, provide courteous service at their doorstep, and ensure they feel appreciated and well supported.
Candidate Requirements
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues to foster a positive team environment and deliver excellent customer service.
- Be warm, approachable, and friendly in interactions with both customers and team members.
- Adapt quickly to changing customer needs and demonstrate flexibility both on the road and within the store.
- Hold a valid full UK/EU/EEA driving license (manual or automatic) for at least 12 months, with no more than three penalty points.
