Job description
Role Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco in Chorley, you will be the visible representative of the company on the road, visiting customers at their homes regularly. This position goes beyond merely driving; it centers on assisting people and delivering exceptional service with a friendly attitude. The role is hands-on, physically engaging, and offers diverse daily tasks with no two shifts alike. Although much of your day will be spent working independently, you will have the backing of a supportive team of managers and colleagues at the base whenever needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your delivery van, trays, and workspace to ensure customers receive their orders in perfect condition.
- Safely load the van and perform all necessary checks to confirm the vehicle is roadworthy and dependable for delivering excellent service.
- Communicate clearly and kindly with customers regarding any order changes, substitutions, or short-dated items, facilitating refunds as appropriate to keep the experience smooth and positive.
- Handle products carefully, treating each order as if it were your own to preserve quality and customer trust.
- Deliver orders promptly within scheduled customer time slots, providing warm and genuine interaction at the doorstep to make customers feel valued and well cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to foster strong relationships with colleagues to build a positive team spirit and deliver outstanding customer service.
- Possess a warm and welcoming demeanor toward customers and team members.
- Adapt rapidly to changing customer requirements and embrace flexibility both on the road and at the store.
- Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (manual or automatic) for a minimum of 12 months, with no more than three penalty points.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay at 3.18 per hour, increasing to 3.45 within the M25 area; some locations may provide additional bonuses.
- A guaranteed minimum of 16 working hours per week with options starting at 12 hours.
- At least 20 days of holiday plus a personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months, in addition to bank holidays.
