Role Overview
The Credit Risk Manager position is a full-time, on-site role located in Abuja, responsible for evaluating and managing the creditworthiness of loan applicants. Key duties include the analysis of financial data to inform credit approvals or denials, development and enhancement of credit risk policies, management of loan portfolios to mitigate default risks, preparation of risk reports, and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory standards. The role involves working closely with lending, finance, and operations teams to improve credit decision-making and support responsible growth of the loan portfolio.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Expertise in credit evaluation, including processing loan applications and determining credit limits appropriately.
- Strong foundation in credit risk management practices such as risk assessment, policy creation, and monitoring of exposure.
- Proficient analytical skills for interpreting financial statements, credit data, and evaluating portfolio health.
- Sound knowledge of financial products, lending processes, interest rate structures, and regulatory environments.
- Ability to manage diverse portfolios balancing profitability, risk, and growth objectives.
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or an associated discipline; additional professional certifications are advantageous.
- Previous experience in banking, microfinance, or similar lending sectors, especially in credit or risk oversight roles.
- Excellent communication and report preparation skills with the capacity to convey complex risk information effectively to stakeholders.
- High integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and prudent judgment in credit decision-making.
- Willingness and ability to work on site in Abuja and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
