Cost Controller / Estimator - Brisbane Queensland

About the Role

We are inviting experienced Cost Controllers and Estimators to join our tendering team for upcoming consulting opportunities, primarily focusing on road infrastructure projects within Brisbane and greater Queensland. Our expertise lies in delivering project delivery resources for State Government Road Authorities, Urban and Regional Councils. We are actively listed on several preferred supplier panels.

Many assignments involve the reconstruction of essential public assets (REPA) following natural disasters, conducted under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) managed by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA).

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee cost control activities including precise collection, documentation, and reporting of project cost forecasts.
• Support submissions to funding bodies.
• Engage in cost planning and control via budget management, core and cashflow forecasting, variance analysis, and cost reporting across various work programs.
• Assist delivery teams by integrating cost planning and control with planning, scheduling, financial accounting, and commercial processes.
• Ensure adherence to cost control systems and procedures across multiple software platforms.
• Apply project monitoring, analysis, and change control using industry best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate and maintain effective communication with team members, consultants, contractors, advisors, delivery partners, and government stakeholders to facilitate optimal cost management.

Mandatory Experience

• A minimum of 5 years as a Cost Controller or Estimator within industrial or commercial construction projects.
• At least 2 years of experience specifically related to civil roads infrastructure construction projects involving Australian State Government Road Authorities or Australian Councils, preferably within Queensland.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) and/or any urban or regional Queensland councils is advantageous.
• Experience working with Disaster Funding Arrangements is highly valued; candidates are encouraged to highlight this in their application cover letter.

Qualifications and Other Requirements

Work Conditions and Additional Information

• Roles are primarily based in Brisbane and the greater Queensland region; specific locations will be clarified before engagement.
• Standard working hours typically are nominally 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, around 8 hours daily; however, hours may vary depending on project demands.
