Job description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to work on-site at client premises with a focus on high availability and performance tuning in complex environments. This role is dedicated to supporting enterprise-scale Oracle databases, primarily serving banking and financial services sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Oracle databases with hands-on experience in RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN for backup and recovery.
- Perform performance diagnostics using AWR/ASH and carry out advanced database tuning.
- Implement partitioning strategies, advanced compression, and use OEM for database monitoring.
- Handle large OLTP systems with multi-terabyte databases ensuring high transaction throughput.
- Automate tasks and manage scripting using Shell, Python, and Ansible.
- Oversee database architectures from Oracle 12c through 26Ai including ASM and storage management.
- Manage Exadata-specific features like Smart Scan and storage indexing, and Golden Gate replication and migrations.
- Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations, employing Edition-Based Redefinition, SQL Plan Management, Real Application Testing, and Resource Manager.
- Analyze Linux system performance metrics and network latency affecting database performance.
- Work with connection pooling technologies and maintain integrations with application middleware such as WebLogic.
- Participate in cloud database management with a preference for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a DBA or Database Support Engineer with an emphasis on Oracle Database.
- At least 10 years’ experience managing enterprise Oracle databases and minimum 3 years within banking or financial sectors.
- Educational background includes BE/BTech or MS in Computer Science or a related discipline; any graduate eligible.
- Expertise in Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, Partitioning, Compression, and Exadata technologies.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Shell, Python, and Ansible.
- Knowledge of Oracle versions 12c, 19c, 21c, and 26Ai and familiarity with advanced features such as EBR and SPM.
- Experience with cloud platforms, especially OCI, and engineered systems.
- Oracle OCP or OCM certification preferred.
- Experience in regulatory audits related to the banking industry is a plus.
Work Conditions
- This position requires working onsite at customer locations in Mumbai, Noida, Bangalore, or Chennai.
- Strict 5-day office attendance policy with no opportunities for remote work.
- The role involves 24/7 shift schedules at client premises.
