About Us

Rockhampton Hospital is the largest medical facility in Central Queensland and acts as the primary referral center in the region. Significant investments are being made to improve specialist healthcare access locally. The Operational Services team plays a vital role in supporting clinical staff by ensuring excellent patient care through nutritious meals, patient transportation, and maintaining hospital cleanliness. Operational Services Officers are essential to the effective and safe operation of the hospital.

Role Overview

  • Lead and coordinate Supervisors, Cooks, and Menu Monitors to provide efficient, dependable, and high-caliber catering services throughout Rockhampton Hospital.
  • Supervise roughly 75 employees managing rostering, workforce deployment, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, leave administration, and staff wellbeing.
  • Ensure adherence to Queensland Health food safety standards, investigate any safety incidents or risks, and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives to maintain safe and reliable service delivery.
  • Collaborate with Dietitians, Speech Pathologists, and multidisciplinary teams to manage menus and accommodate dietary modifications, ensuring patients receive suitable nutritional care.
  • Participate in budget preparation, workforce planning, equipment and resource management, policy formulation, and service growth, all while supporting efficient and sustainable Food Services operations.

Candidate Profile

  • A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is preferred but not required; candidates willing to obtain this certification are considered.
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising and developing staff within a large, multidisciplinary healthcare context, including managing staff performance and implementing organizational changes.
  • Excellent knowledge of hospital Food Services operations, food safety laws, policies, protocols, standards, and systems to maintain safe and quality catering.
  • Experience in staff rostering, workforce planning, managing leave, rehabilitation, and return-to-work procedures; ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently and make informed decisions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Total remuneration package up to $118,172 annually, including an hourly wage range of $49.55 to $52.23.
  • Employer superannuation contribution of 12.75% and 17.5% leave loading.
