Position Overview
Seeking a leadership role that allows you to make a substantial contribution, empower teams to excel, and oversee the delivery of vital infrastructure across Otago? Become a pivotal member of Downer's Energy & Utilities as a Construction Manager, responsible for a broad range of water and utility infrastructure projects throughout the region. Based in Dunedin, this role offers a blend of strategic leadership, project execution, and team development in one of New Zealand's most scenic locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and successfully deliver maintenance, new construction, and early contractor involvement projects across Otago.
- Collaborate effectively with operational divisions, clients, and various stakeholders to achieve safe, sustainable, and commercially viable project outcomes.
- Support ongoing expansion of Downer's Water business in the southern region.
- Develop and nurture trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders, and delivery partners.
- Influence business results and champion continuous process enhancements.
- Manage, mentor, and enhance the performance and capabilities of diverse teams across the region.
Candidate Profile
- A collaborative and people-oriented leadership style with a track record of uniting teams to achieve excellent results.
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Extensive experience managing civil, water, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong commercial acumen and proficiency in contract management.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, including managing subcontractors and delivery teams.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with clients, stakeholders, and operational staff.
- A passion for leadership, coaching, and staff development.
- Competence in planning, resource allocation, and financial reporting.
- A strong dedication to safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience in water, wastewater, or utilities sectors is highly valued.
