About The Role

The Home Depot Canada seeks a dedicated Compensation Specialist to support the implementation and management of compensation programs aligned with business goals and employee needs. This position entails coordinating compensation operations, safeguarding data integrity, preparing detailed analyses and reports, and assisting in salary administration, incentive programs, recognition initiatives, and compliance efforts. Collaboration with Compensation team members, HR partners, Finance, and other stakeholders is crucial to ensure effective and consistent compensation program delivery. Reporting to the Compensation Manager, this role embraces a positive customer experience approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Canadian compensation programs, including salary management, hourly wage assessments, short-term incentives, and recognition plans.
  • Manage compensation-related activities within Workday and associated platforms to ensure timely and precise processing.
  • Participate in annual compensation cycles, such as merit evaluations, salary structure revisions, and incentive program administration.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on compensation policies and programs.
  • Respond to compensation inquiries from HR and leadership teams promptly.
  • Compile, validate, and audit compensation data maintaining high data integrity.
  • Support reporting and data collection efforts in relation to compensation programs.
  • Identify and help resolve any discrepancies found within compensation data.
  • Engage in compensation survey participation, market pricing maintenance, and benchmarking activities.
  • Assist with job evaluations and reviews, preparing necessary documents and maintaining records.
  • Support evaluation of organizational changes affecting job structures.
  • Ensure compliance with labour legislation including minimum wage laws, pay equity, and transparency requirements.
  • Assist with audits, controls, and governance of compensation programs.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all compensation decisions to ensure policy adherence.
  • Provide responsive, customer-focused support to HR and business units.
  • Help develop communications, presentations, and resources related to compensation.
  • Contribute to process improvements aimed at increasing efficiency and program effectiveness.
  • Participate in various compensation-related projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Between one and three years of experience in compensation, HR operations, HR analytics, or comparable fields.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and handling compensation data is preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR, payroll, or workforce reporting is beneficial.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, charts, and data validation.
  • Ability to manage large datasets efficiently and ensure accuracy.
  • Familiarity with Workday HRIS is an asset.
  • Competence in preparing accurate data reports and summaries.
  • Experience with AI tools such as Gemini or Co-pilot in Excel is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong detail orientation coupled with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Capability to handle multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to learning compensation expertise.
  • Problem-solving capabilities and a focus on continuous process improvements.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary for this role is between $55,000 and $70,000 annually. Total rewards may additionally include semi-annual business performance bonuses, a Deferred Profit-Sharing Program for retirement savings, comprehensive paid benefits, a 15% discount on company stock purchases, and merit-based raises.
