Commis Chef / Cook's Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking motivated Cooks Assistants to join our culinary team at Ernest Rutherford Retirement Village in Stoke, Nelson. This full-time position involves working as a Cook's Assistant Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 to 18:30 and as a Commis Chef on Friday and Saturday from 06:00 to 14:30. You will play a vital role in preparing nourishing, high-quality meals for our residents while honing your culinary skills in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support chefs in the preparation of nutritious and appealing food for residents.
• Assist in food preparation and presentation to maintain high standards.
• Collaborate closely with kitchen colleagues to ensure smooth operation.

Candidate Profile

• Current or willingness to obtain a New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 3).
• Previous experience in food preparation roles.
• Dependable, approachable, and professional demeanor.
• Strong commitment to food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Ability to assist with various dishes and prepare food efficiently.
• Must possess baking skills, including cakes, scones, and biscuits.
