Coating Technician-1

Overview

The Coating Technician plays a crucial role in supporting thermal spray coating processes on gas turbine parts. Responsibilities include pre-coat and post-coat tasks such as weighing and applying coatings according to engineering and work standards. The role emphasizes adherence to Lean manufacturing principles, promoting safety, quality, and productivity improvements across the production line.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute coating application following approved work instructions, engineering specs, and process standards.
• Perform masking for coatings when required per standard process specifics.
• Interpret work orders and quality documentation to ensure accurate coating deposition.
• Maintain accurate records of process measurements and data.
• Operate coating tools, weighing devices, fixtures, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect components before and after coating to verify they meet quality standards.
• Follow Standard Work and Combination Sheets to maintain consistent, safe, and efficient workflow.
• Uphold 5S workplace organization standards to keep work areas clean and safe.
• Apply Lean manufacturing concepts daily, contributing to waste reduction and process flow optimization.
• Participate in root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective action initiatives to resolve quality or process issues.
• Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, quality, cycle time, and reduce waste.
• Support improvements in standard work, line layout, visual management, and process discipline.
• Collaborate with team members to boost line performance and overall production efficiency.
• Maintain operations within takt time, cycle time, and standard process flow to meet targets.
• Use shop floor digital systems including ELM and SmartShop as needed.
• Adhere strictly to company safety, quality policies, standard operating procedures, and workflows.

Qualifications

• Diploma, technical college degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience or knowledge in technician roles, manufacturing, coating, or industrial environments.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of experience with Thermal Barrier Coating processes.
• Involvement in process improvement or problem solving initiatives.
• Minimum 2 years handling gas turbine components or precision aerospace/industrial parts.
