Role Summary
The CNC Programmer will work under Production Managers to convert engineering designs into precise and efficient CNC machine code, with a focus on sheet metal fabrication and machine optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance CNC programs for robotic plasma cutters, press brakes, and bending machines.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately to create machining instructions.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling, nesting, and overall manufacturing workflows.
- Set up tooling and materials on CNC machinery.
- Run programming simulations to verify accuracy, minimize errors, and maximize productivity.
- Support machine operators and production staff with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
- Continuously work on improving CNC programming methods to boost efficiency and product quality.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards within the work environment.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience as a CNC Programmer with strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and cutting techniques.
- Familiarity with CNC machine operations such as brake press, laser cutting, and multi-axis machining.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Level 3 NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
- Experience programming CNC punch machines, especially TRUMPF & Voortman models.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including tooling selection and material handling.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
