Role Summary

The CNC Programmer will work under Production Managers to convert engineering designs into precise and efficient CNC machine code, with a focus on sheet metal fabrication and machine optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance CNC programs for robotic plasma cutters, press brakes, and bending machines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately to create machining instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling, nesting, and overall manufacturing workflows.
  • Set up tooling and materials on CNC machinery.
  • Run programming simulations to verify accuracy, minimize errors, and maximize productivity.
  • Support machine operators and production staff with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
  • Continuously work on improving CNC programming methods to boost efficiency and product quality.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards within the work environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience as a CNC Programmer with strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and cutting techniques.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine operations such as brake press, laser cutting, and multi-axis machining.
  • Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Level 3 NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience programming CNC punch machines, especially TRUMPF & Voortman models.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including tooling selection and material handling.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
