Job description
About the Role
We are collaborating exclusively with our fintech client to expand their functional programming team by adding a proficient Clojure developer. This multi-award winning company, with offices in London and New York, offers a primarily hybrid working model with flexible onsite work at their London location. There is also potential for fully remote work within the UK for candidates holding full work rights.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and further develop the client's celebrated fintech platform.
- Contribute to evolving the technical architecture and product design to support future growth.
- Play an active role in delivering, implementing, and supporting cloud-based projects.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum five years of commercial experience in software engineering, primarily using Clojure; experience in other functional languages such as Haskell, OCaml, Rust, or Lisp is also relevant.
- Comfortable designing and building APIs.
- Experience working with relational databases.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, ideally AWS, but other cloud technologies are considered.
- A product-focused mindset toward engineering tasks.
- Strong communication abilities and self-motivation to manage work independently, especially given the hybrid or remote nature of work.
- Possession of a STEM-related bachelor's degree is preferred; higher-level degrees are welcomed.
Preferred But Not Required
- Experience working with domain-specific languages (DSLs).
- Commercial experience using both Clojure and Haskell.
Additional Information
The position offers flexibility in working arrangements, favoring hybrid presence in London but open to 100% remote within the UK. Applicants must have unrestricted right to work in the UK. Interested candidates can expect a prompt response within 24 hours following their application.
