Job description
Overview
We are looking for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to lead technical assurance initiatives on a power generation and desalination plant project. The role involves comprehensive review and approval of civil and structural engineering deliverables for both onshore and marine infrastructure components from project inception through completion.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage and assess designs related to site development, dynamic foundations for heavy equipment, and extensive potable water and seawater infrastructure. This includes large prestressed water retaining structures and complex drainage and earthworks systems within electrical yards and switching stations.
Experience and Skills Required
- At least 15 years of post-graduate civil/structural engineering experience, including a minimum of 10 years in power plants, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in plant site development covering roads, earthworks, complex drainage systems, and utility-scale power plant foundations.
- Proven design experience with large prestressed potable water retention and seawater tank structures.
- Familiarity with nearshore and marine civil engineering, including seawater intake, brine discharge systems, and coastal protection works.
- Ability to develop scopes of work and interpret geotechnical and topographical investigations.
- Hands-on experience supporting construction phases of mega-projects by addressing complex engineering challenges.
- Competence across project phases: Concept/Feasibility, FEED, and EPIC.
- Knowledgeable in US and European civil/structural codes and standards.
- Strong independent problem-solving skills and project management capabilities managing time, cost, and quality.
- Effective communicator with excellent presentation skills in English and proven aptitude for working in diverse multicultural teams.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or a relevant postgraduate degree.
