About the Role
SGF – Spice Grill & Flame is seeking a dedicated Chef to join its kitchen team at outlets located in Delhi NCR. This full-time role reports to the Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager, or Operations Manager and involves preparing food of exceptional quality following SGF's established recipes, standards, and SOPs.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare dishes consistent with SGF recipes, portion sizes, and standards to ensure uniform taste and presentation.
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and adherence to cooking methods.
- Inspect freshness and quality of raw ingredients before use and uphold proper food storage using FIFO procedures.
- Monitor food wastage closely and implement measures to minimize cost overruns.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with food safety protocols.
- Coordinate with service personnel and management for timely and accurate order delivery.
- Organize mise en place activities before and during service to streamline operations.
- Maintain inventory control by tracking stock levels and communicating shortages to management.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is well-maintained and promptly report any malfunction or damage.
- Train and oversee junior kitchen staff, fostering discipline and teamwork.
- Support kitchen opening and closing procedures and comply with company SOPs and HR policies.
Food Quality and Cost Control
- Guarantee consistent flavor and food quality by following standardized recipes.
- Enforce appropriate portion control and reduce food wastage.
- Manage raw material usage and inventory effectively to optimize cost-efficiency.
- Present food according to company standards.
Hygiene and Safety Responsibilities
- Maintain personal hygiene and wear required uniforms and safety gear.
- Sanitize kitchen workstations regularly and adhere to strict food handling practices.
- Ensure proper storage of raw and cooked food items.
- Report any food safety or workplace safety issues immediately to management.
Required Skills and Experience
- Solid knowledge of culinary preparation, cooking techniques, and hygiene practices.
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced quick-service restaurant environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills with the capacity to operate effectively during peak hours.
- Experience in managing portion control and food wastage is highly valued.
- Strong discipline and punctuality are essential.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum education: 10th or 12th pass preferred.
- Prior experience working in restaurants, quick-service restaurants, hotels, or food services is preferred.
- Experience in Indian, Tandoor, Chinese, Continental, or Chaap cuisine relevant to assigned kitchen section is advantageous.
- Applicants with practical cooking experience will also be considered.
