Job description
Role Summary
The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) invites applications for Casual Caretaking roles, focusing on maintaining safe and healthy environments for staff, students, and the wider school community. This casual custodial position offers up to 40 hours per week for a 12-month period beginning October 2026. Successful candidates will support various health and safety initiatives as part of a multidisciplinary team and gain experience beneficial for advancement to permanent caretaker roles.
Compensation and Working Hours
- Hourly wage range: $25.86 to $28.10
- Additional payments: 4% vacation in lieu, 5% benefits in lieu, 3.5% paid holiday in lieu
- Evening shift premium of $1.02 for shifts beginning after 2 pm

Limestone District School Board serves over 20,500 students across 55 schools and five alternative education centers over a 7,719 square kilometre area including Kingston and several nearby townships. Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Perform custodial cleaning tasks and operate cleaning equipment safely
- Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols including WHMIS, First Aid, and Fire and Safety Standards
- Use ladders and scaffolding safely for indoor and outdoor maintenance
- Attend training and adapt positively to new processes and continuous improvements
- Travel between multiple school sites in the district as required
- Possess good organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive information
- Hold a secondary school diploma (minimum)
- Preferably have at least six months of cleaning experience
- Availability for afternoon shifts between 3:00 pm and 11:00 pm is advantageous
- Physical capability to perform job functions
- Basic computer literacy, including word processing, email, and internet use
- Provide a current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check if hired

Minimum education
Secondary (Class 10)
