Job description
Role Overview
Cashiers play an essential role in customer service by ensuring transactions are handled swiftly, courteously, accurately, and safely. They are responsible for processing purchases and returns, as well as overseeing and maintaining the self-checkout stations. Additionally, they aim to expand their knowledge on products and projects to better assist customers and identify potential sales opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently conduct checkout and return transactions in compliance with company policies.
- Monitor and maintain the self-checkout area to facilitate smooth customer experiences.
- Acquire and apply product and project information to inform customers and suggest additional sales.
- Follow all procedures to minimize losses and prevent shrinkage.
Head Cashier Specific Duties
- Assign cashier positions and support them by managing price checks and authorizing point-of-sale transactions and markdowns across all registers and service areas including returns, pro desk, special services, and tool rental.
- Act as the initial point of escalation for customer concerns.
- Assist with supervision, training, and coaching of other front-end staff by actively participating in onboarding new cashiers and utilizing available resources to facilitate coaching and development.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of at least one year working as a cashier is preferred for candidates aiming for a Head Cashier role.
