Position Overview

The Cashier role at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, designated as Grade AM-II under the Branch Banking department, is primarily accountable for managing all cash transactions and operations within the branch. This includes maintaining accurate transactional records as per banking standards and performing end-of-day reconciliations within the system.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth branch operations by efficiently processing cash transactions and maintaining account records.
• Oversee the branch's cash handling operations, including receipt and processing of various financial instruments such as cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, and pay orders within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash payments for withdrawal requests and accept deposits against cash challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and update required system entries accordingly.
• Maintain registers for inward/outward transactions, petty cash, and assets, and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying aligned with transaction records and vouchers, reporting findings in the branch's End of Day report.
• Manage cash handling and jointly maintain the branch vault with the operations officer.
• Engage with customers during deposits and disbursements, addressing their needs, uncovering cross-selling opportunities, and informing them about new bank products.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and guiding customers toward alternate transaction channels.
• Conduct cash counts at the start and end of the day, ensuring accurate vaulting and custody of branch valuables alongside the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Adhere strictly to transaction turnaround times and comply with bank policies and regulatory guidelines related to cash management.
• Verify loan repayment transactions and authenticate customer identities during cash withdrawals.
• Update passbooks post-transactions and handle currency chest deposits with proper documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of bank products, services, regulations, and KYC norms.
• Participate in training programs, certifications, and performance evaluations as scheduled.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate degree in any field, with a preference for Finance or Commerce.
• At least 1 to 2 years of substantial experience in handling high-volume cash transactions.
• Familiarity with financial accounting modules or ERP systems and experience consolidating accounting records.

Skills and Competencies

• Expertise in cash handling and accounting.
• Ability to identify counterfeit currency notes.
• Attention to detail and systematic processing of customer transactions.
• Strong computer operating skills; on-the-job training for relevant banking software will be provided.
• Excellent numerical aptitude and ability to multitask effectively.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills geared towards delivering superior customer service.
• Execution focus and relationship management capabilities.

Interactions

The incumbent will coordinate internally with the regional operations team, regional FCU officer, and service quality executives, and externally with neighboring banks, cash management agencies, and BC agents.

Additional Information

This full-time role requires the Cashier to work on-site at the branch in Madurai South, Tamil Nadu. The position reports directly to the Branch Operation Manager. Commitment to adhering to the bank's policies, regulations, and turnaround time standards is mandatory.
