Job description
Position Overview
This full-time role at Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, located on Al Mamsha Street in Dubai, involves responding promptly to guest maintenance requests and ensuring the smooth operation of various mechanical and facility systems. The position primarily entails on-site duties, requiring a versatile skill set across several maintenance disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and resolve guest repair requests effectively, maintaining clear communication with guests and customers to address maintenance concerns.
- Carry out preventive upkeep on tools, kitchen appliances, and mechanical room equipment including cleaning and lubricating.
- Perform visual inspections of tools, machinery, and equipment to detect issues proactively.
- Handle equipment transport such as tools and radios as necessary for maintenance tasks.
- Identify and operate all relevant shut-off valves for equipment and utilities within the building.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and reorder parts as needed.
- Communicate daily activities and challenges to subsequent shifts following approved communication protocols.
- Demonstrate or develop foundational knowledge in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing skills, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, energy conservation, and general building upkeep.
- Complete surface preparation, painting jobs, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and air-conditioning filter replacements, and ensure thorough cleanup post-repair or painting.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of equipment, including plumbing issues such as unclogging drains and plunging toilets, electrical components, and guestroom fixtures.
- Program televisions and assist in general housekeeping and engineering inventory duties.
- Apply Lockout/Tagout safety procedures before maintenance work commences.
- Maintain both interior and exterior landscaping, including sprinkler system repairs.
- Use basic computer skills for air handler scheduling and temperature adjustments.
- Adhere strictly to company safety and security policies, promptly report safety hazards, complete necessary safety training, and handle flammable materials correctly.
- Present a professional appearance, maintain confidentiality, and protect company assets at all times.
- Greet and assist guests courteously according to company standards, including those with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation towards guests.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals, communicate clearly and professionally, and respond constructively to coworkers' concerns.
- Perform physical tasks such as moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier loads with help; navigate stairs, ramps, and ladders; and engage in various bending, twisting, and stooping movements.
- Access and utilize work-related information via computer systems as required.
- Complete other reasonable duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Preferences
- Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
- Some hands-on experience in general maintenance with an emphasis on interior and exterior surface preparation and painting.
- Previous experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous.
- No supervisory experience required.
- Valid driver’s license is mandatory.
