Position Details
We are seeking a Caretaker I to maintain cleanliness and safety in our facilities. This part-time role requires working 8 hours daily, five days a week, primarily during evenings, at our location in Kingston, Ontario. The position stems from an existing vacancy, with an effective starting date to be determined.
Duties
The caretaker is responsible for daily cleaning operations ensuring that assigned areas meet acceptable standards of cleanliness, safety, and health to support the needs of staff and students.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or comparable work experience.
- Between three and six months of prior caretaking experience.
- Proficiency with equipment such as lawn tractors, hand tools, floor machines, and auto scrubbers.
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, fire safety regulations, and security procedures.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Physical capability to fulfill job responsibilities, including lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Effective English reading and writing skills.

Application Process and Additional Information
This role is open to all CUPE employees, with preference according to the Collective Agreement of CUPE local 1479 favoring permanent internal candidates. Temporary employees will be considered before external applicants. Applications are only accepted through designated platforms.
The successful candidate must provide a Police Record Check with a vulnerable sector check no older than six months prior to hiring.
