Job description
About the Role
At Deutsche Bahn, we value people seeking new professional directions, including those returning from parental leave. During your retraining as a Train Traffic Controller, you will receive an attractive salary. Post retraining, you will work alongside your colleagues as an equal.
As a Train Traffic Controller, your workplace is the signal box where you manage train movements, ensuring safe, punctual, and smooth rail operations.
We are hiring for this position at DB InfraGO AG across multiple locations including Bad Lobenstein, Eisfeld, Freyburg (Unstrut), Ilmenau, Laucha an der Unstrut, Ringleben, Schmalkalden, Straußfurt, Wetterzeube, and Wünschendorf/Elster.
Retraining Program
- The full-time program comprises 39 hours per week combining theoretical lessons and practical training.
- Theory is delivered in regional training centers; practical assignments are ideally assigned close to your residence.
- Training classes consist of approximately 12 participants.
Post-Retraining Responsibilities
- Operate train traffic at signal boxes of varying sizes using levers, push buttons, and rotary switches.
- Set routes (paths, points, signals) to enable safe train departures, for example, from stations.
- Monitor operations within stations to maintain smooth and safe traffic flow.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with fellow signal box staff, train drivers, and control centers.
Candidate Profile
- Completion of a vocational training program, such as retail salesperson, restaurant specialist, bakery sales assistant, or office administrator.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Maintain calm and focus in demanding situations.
- Demonstrated teamwork and willingness to assume responsibility.
- Flexibility for shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining a balanced work-life integration.
Applications from already trained Train Traffic Controllers are also welcome.
Our Commitment
We provide equal opportunities for all qualified candidates, promoting diversity and inclusive teams regardless of gender, nationality, ethnicity, social background, religion, worldview, disability, age, length of unemployment, sexual orientation, or identity.
Benefits and Extras
- Annual 16 free train trips across Germany and additional travel discounts including the DB Job Ticket for your commute; attractive rates for family and friends' travel.
- Competitive salary packages typically with permanent contracts and job security, plus extra perks and company pension plans.
- Personalized long-term development and career advancement opportunities through seminars, training, and qualifications for specialist, project, or leadership roles.
Equal Opportunity Notice
Deutsche Bahn values the inclusion and equal participation of severely disabled and equivalent applicants and gives them preference if suitably qualified. Respectful collaboration is a core principle within the company.
