Canteen Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a dependable and proactive Canteen Assistant to support the seamless daily operations of our canteen. This practical role includes overseeing stock levels, verifying product quality and expiration dates, and replenishing and cleaning vending machines. You will ensure the canteen and kitchen areas are kept clean and safe by following daily checklists and cleaning routines. A strict commitment to health and safety standards such as food hygiene, HACCP, allergen management, COSHH, and temperature monitoring is vital.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and control stock effectively.
• Inspect stock quality and verify codes.
• Restock and maintain cleanliness of vending machines.
• Provide hospitality support as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness in canteen, dining and kitchen areas according to daily and weekly schedules.
• Follow checklists and prioritize time management to fulfill all duties.
• Strictly adhere to guidelines on food hygiene, allergen information, COSHH, and HACCP.
• Monitor temperature controls diligently.

Candidate Requirements

• Exemplary customer service attitude with a friendly, outgoing demeanor and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Maintain high levels of hygiene and manage a 24-hour canteen environment effectively.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with an ability to suggest improvements in stock handling processes.
• Pride in canteen appearance and presentation.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience with warehouse refrigeration chambers is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Adaptable and versatile in work tasks.
• Ability to produce high-quality work under pressure.
• Competent computer skills and organizational abilities.
• Commitment to health and safety advocacy.
