Cafe Barista

Job Overview

Reporting to the General Manager, the Barista plays a crucial role in effectively running the Café by adhering to established service protocols and standards. This position primarily operates independently during shifts, with assistance available if necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating café equipment to prepare coffee, specialty and bottled beverages, as well as baked and packaged food items.
• Maintaining cleanliness throughout the café in compliance with local, state, and federal sanitation regulations.
• Performing daily and weekly cleaning routines for food preparation surfaces, machinery, utensils, and customer areas.
• Stocking and merchandising the café, ensuring the shopping environment remains neat, organized, and visually appealing in line with company policies.
• Welcoming customers entering the store and café and delivering outstanding customer service with every transaction.
• Actively promoting POS initiatives and corporate programs such as discount cards, magazine sales, pre-sale vouchers, and charitable donation efforts.
• Managing the cash drawer at the end of shifts, ensuring accuracy within limits defined by the Loss Prevention Policy.
• Providing assistance to the bookstore as required and performing other related duties.

Qualifications & Education

• Minimum age of 16 years or older.
• Successful completion of all mandatory background checks.

• Proficiency in learning to operate various café machines, including blenders, ovens, espresso machines, among others.
• Familiarity with computer operations and cash register handling.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as keyboard and phone operation.
• Capability to lift or assist in lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Effective communication through speech, vision, and hearing with or without assistive devices.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, or crouch during work activities.
