Job description
About the Role
The Buyer will be responsible for procuring all direct materials and services required for production, as well as indirect materials and services needed by internal stakeholders. This role reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and is based onsite in Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland, working five days per week.
Key Duties
- Ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials and services to meet development schedules and business requirements.
- Procure materials and services promptly while optimizing cost without compromising quality.
- Establish and nurture effective buyer-supplier relationships.
- Conduct procurement from both local and international sources following company purchasing policies and procedures.
- Select suppliers, request quotations, and evaluate offers.
- Confirm lead times, delivery schedules, and pricing details with suppliers.
- Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely acknowledgement and accurate delivery dates.
- Follow up on open purchase orders to guarantee on-time supplier delivery.
- Identify and implement alternative procurement solutions if lead times do not meet requirements.
- Collaborate with Logistics to coordinate material transportation and necessary technical documentation.
- Work closely with Warehouse personnel to ensure proper storage of goods.
- Communicate any shortages and potential supply disruptions proactively to internal teams.
- Monitor supplier performance and capacity to ensure quality and delivery standards are met.
- Maintain accurate data within the ERP system, including pricing, lead times, supplier information, and terms.
- Verify purchase order matching and ensure valid supplier invoices for finance processing.
Candidate Profile
- Proficient user of Windows and Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Oracle ERP is highly advantageous.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrates qualities such as thoroughness, attention to detail, persuasiveness, conflict resolution abilities, problem-solving mindset, analytical thinking, operational focus, effective communication, and teamwork.
- Fluent in English with active communication skills.
- Previous experience in a comparable procurement or buyer role is a significant advantage.
