Role Overview

The Business Development Manager works closely with the Head of Growth and the DAU to create a strategically driven sales pipeline. The position focuses on establishing and sustaining key strategic partnerships within New Zealand’s corporate and commercial sectors, engaging with executives including C-suite members, boards, and directors to identify needs and opportunities. Collaboration with leaders in Growth Operations and Client Experience is crucial to position Aon as the preferred insurance partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a business development strategy aligned with Aon's overall strategy, targeting growth and enhanced client satisfaction, in partnership with senior leaders across Corporate, Specialty, Growth, and DAU sectors.
  • Conduct market research and analyses to uncover new business opportunities and client requirements in New Zealand and APAC regions.
  • Establish and nurture connections with senior business leaders to stay informed about emerging opportunities.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of Aon’s services, innovations, and industry insights to effectively communicate and anticipate client needs.
  • Provide intelligence and feedback to the Head of Growth and DAU to help shape New Zealand’s strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with Aon Connect teams locally and globally to manage a comprehensive prospective client database.
  • Coordinate with Bid Management and Client Experience teams to develop client proposals and presentations.
  • Utilize Aon's sales methodologies to guide prospects through a thorough evaluation and delivery process.
  • Lead advocacy and implementation of Aon Connect and DAU initiatives as part of the 3x3 strategy.
  • Apply data-driven insights to support sales pipeline development and decision-making.
  • Partner with client servicing teams to deliver informative presentations and analyses to prospects and new clients.
  • Drive change management initiatives to introduce new operational practices in a growth-focused environment.
  • Promote a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing, ensuring workplace risks are managed and incidents reported promptly.
  • Encourage a risk-conscious approach to meet legal and regulatory standards, delivering excellent client outcomes and compliance with financial advice and record-keeping practices.
  • Communicate effectively across teams to align colleagues with company purpose, priorities, and performance goals.
  • Foster an engaged, inclusive workforce through proactive engagement strategies and inclusive leadership.
  • Develop succession plans and talent pipelines based on organizational needs, supported by a strong accountability framework.
  • Collaborate as a member of the general management leadership team to promote enterprise alignment, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Champion the Delivering Aon United initiative by embodying the company’s story and 3x3 strategic goals.
  • Work with executives to shape and implement overall New Zealand strategy and operational plans.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador maintaining Aon’s strong reputation with clients, regulators, and partners.
