Role Overview
The Business Analyst role within the Data Lakehouse program based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, involves bridging business and technical teams by meticulously gathering requirements, assuring data integrity, and ensuring smooth reporting transitions aligned with enterprise data frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across business, IT, Enterprise Data Management (EDM), Data Warehouse (DWH), Data Governance, and reporting functions to elicit and document detailed requirements.
- Facilitate workshops aimed at understanding business workflows, data consumption, and reporting needs.
- Convert gathered business needs into clear functional specifications and user stories while maintaining traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyze source systems and data flows; support validation of logical and physical data models consistent with FSLDM and FSAS standards.
- Review and verify source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and business rules to ensure accuracy in data semantics and reporting specifications.
- Define and authenticate business-oriented data quality rules; participate in data profiling, reconciliation, and validation across systems including source, DWH, EDM, and Data Lakehouse layers.
- Investigate data inconsistencies and collaborate with technical teams on corrective actions; engage in defect triage and root cause analysis.
- Support reporting teams by understanding legacy report logic to aid repointing of reports onto new Gold Layer data structures; enable data readiness and business acceptance for reporting transitions, including facilitating sign-offs and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Draft and review system integration testing (SIT) and UAT scenarios and test cases; coordinate and monitor business testing for solution validation.
- Prepare comprehensive documents such as Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), Data Mapping Documents, user stories, and process flows; maintain traceability matrices, issue logs, and decision registries.
- Assist in data governance, metadata management, lineage tracking, and compliance initiatives; participate in project governance and periodic status reporting to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 8 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst within Banking and Financial Services sectors.
- In-depth understanding of Data Warehousing, Data Lakehouse, Enterprise Data Management, and reporting technologies.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as FSLDM, FSAS, enterprise data models, and established data governance practices.
- Strong grasp of ETL/ELT processes, data reconciliation techniques, and data quality management.
- Proven experience working within both Agile and traditional Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with technologies including Cloudera, Informatica, Teradata, Denodo, Kafka, and contemporary Data Lakehouse platforms.
- Exposure to banking data domains and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of NDMO/NDI compliance as well as data governance frameworks.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile Business Analysis, or Data Management qualifications are desirable.
Work Location
This position requires onsite presence in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, per program requirements.
Key Deliverables
- Documentation including Business Requirement Documents, Functional Specifications, Source-to-Target Mapping Validations, Data Reconciliation Reports, UAT Sign-off documentation, and artifacts to support report repointing.
- Documentation supporting Data Model review and validation efforts.
