Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Blaster to join our team in Wangara, Western Australia. This role involves preparing valves, actuators, fabricated items, and customer equipment for painting, assembly, repairing, and refurbishment through abrasive blasting methods. Attention to detail and a strong adherence to safety protocols are vital to ensure products meet our high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct abrasive blasting on valves, actuators, fabricated components, and returned customer equipment to achieve necessary surface preparation standards.
  • Prepare surfaces for subsequent painting, coating, inspection, assembly, and refurbishment tasks.
  • Effectively remove rust, scale, coatings, and contaminants while meeting specified cleanliness and surface profile criteria.
  • Operate blasting machinery, recovery systems, overhead cranes, forklifts, and related tools safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out routine equipment inspections and identify any maintenance needs.
  • Assist quality inspection processes to ensure components conform to customer and engineering standards.
  • Manage materials carefully and protect sensitive surfaces from damage during blasting.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized work environment and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Uphold a robust safety culture by adhering strictly to health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Practical experience in abrasive blasting, surface preparation, manufacturing, fabrication, industrial maintenance, or similar fields.
  • Possession of a valid LF Forklift Licence and Overhead Crane Licence.
  • Proficient in operating overhead cranes, lifting equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to comprehend work instructions and interpret technical drawings or documentation.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality standards, and collaborative teamwork.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in valve assembly, repair, or refurbishment processes.
  • Background in workshop, engineering, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and component inspection protocols.
  • Certification in First Aid and manual handling training.
