Our tight-knit team based in West Jordan, Utah, is seeking a full-time Bindery Specialist to join us and contribute to our shared success.
Role Summary
The Bindery Specialist will be responsible for operating and adjusting various bindery machines to finish printed products with high quality, ensuring they are ready for delivery. This role is crucial for producing flawless final products that meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect finished products such as stitched, collated, and bound items for defects including imperfect bindings, ink marks, torn or loose pages, requiring attention to detail.
- Interpret work orders to determine proper machine setup instructions and specifications.
- Install and adjust bindery machine components (knives, guides, rollers, rounding forms, crease tools, clamps) to handle sheets, signatures, or books of specified dimensions.
- Trim book edges using cutting or trimming machines to ensure precise sizing.
- Apply stitching or glue to endpapers, bindings, backings, or signatures using glue machines or manual application tools.
- Monitor machine operations for malfunctions or the need for adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Record daily production data accurately using designated forms.
- Prepare completed jobs for shipping by wrapping, packing books, and stacking boxes on pallets appropriately.
- Set up and operate machinery, including activating machine elements and adjusting conveyor speeds as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks essential to delivering superior customer service and product quality.
