Job description

Role Overview

The Benefit Manager will oversee the design, management, and continuous enhancement of Qatar Airways' global insured employee benefit programs. This includes medical and life insurance, disability benefits, personal accident insurance, wellness schemes, and additional employee benefits. The role requires ensuring these programs remain competitive, compliant with laws, align with business strategies, and provide excellent employee experience worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the administration and governance of all employee insured benefit programs on a global scale.
  • Create and execute benefit strategies aligned with company objectives and employee value proposition.
  • Lead annual insurance renewal negotiations regarding premiums, coverage conditions, and contracts with insurers and brokers.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with brokers, insurers, consultants, and administrators ensuring service excellence and contractual compliance.
  • Serve as main contact for complex employee benefit cases such as significant medical claims, disabilities, critical illness, disputes, and death-in-service.
  • Analyze benefit utilization, claims, costs, and provider recommendations to find improvement and cost-efficiency opportunities.
  • Conduct benchmarking and market analysis regionally and globally to ensure benefit competitiveness and best practices alignment.
  • Design and revise benefit schemes considering workforce diversity, local regulations, market customs, and company needs.
  • Ensure all benefit programs comply with applicable local, regional, and international legal and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with brokers and consultants on market assessments, tenders, evaluations, and cost management initiatives.
  • Review and interpret benefit data and financial reports to support strategic decision-making and build business cases.
  • Develop proposals for benefit plan improvements, policy updates, vendor changes, and new initiatives.
  • Lead procurement and vendor selection processes in coordination with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and relevant teams.
  • Monitor vendor performance through governance meetings, service assessments, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal, Occupational Health, Procurement, and leadership to align benefits with organizational goals.
  • Provide expert consultation to management on benefit matters, market trends, regulations, and program effectiveness.
  • Drive communication initiatives to educate employees on benefits usage and awareness.
  • Support organizational changes such as mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and mobility with benefit analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepare management reports, governance documents, executive presentations, and strategic advice related to benefits.
  • Perform additional department responsibilities as directed by the Head of Department.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in employee benefits, insurance, rewards, HR, or benefits consultancy accompanied by a relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical insurance, life and disability insurance programs, wellness initiatives, and global best practices in employee benefits.
  • Proven ability to manage insurer, broker, and third-party administrator relationships effectively.
  • Experienced in benefit design, market benchmarking, vendor negotiation, and strategic benefit management.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills to evaluate utilization, claims data, trends, and pricing.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with ability to influence and build relationships across organizational levels.
  • Experience presenting to senior management and delivering commercially sound, client-focused solutions.
  • Well-versed in multinational regulatory environments and employee benefit governance.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and organizational transformations.
