About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Batch Maker Operator to join a manufacturing client in Richmond, British Columbia. This role requires familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and adherence to food safety and quality standards. The position offers a temporary contract until the end of 2026 with possible extension and involves shift work on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret production formulas to accurately weigh, measure, and prepare ingredients and intermediate materials for the production line.
  • Feed designated amounts of ingredients and materials into mixers, hoppers, and processing machinery following production and quality specifications.
  • Operate both automatic and manual processing equipment, including setup, startup, changeovers, and shutdown procedures.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust process parameters such as temperature, moisture levels, equipment configurations, flow rates, and roller clearances to meet product standards.
  • Conduct product quality inspections by assessing attributes like consistency, texture, and color; collect samples for analysis.
  • Use PLC-controlled equipment to transfer finished or semi-finished goods to storage tanks and assigned production zones.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment or production issues, making corrective adjustments or escalating to supervisors when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records by completing production documentation, labels, and quality reports thoroughly.
  • Strictly follow GMP, food safety, quality control, health and safety, and environmental protocols at all times.
  • Handle ingredients, barrels, containers, and skids within the production area safely using proper material handling equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in batch making, process operation, or mixing duties within food manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in weighing and measuring ingredients, following batch sheets, recipes, formulas, and work instructions accurately.
  • Well-versed in GMP, food safety regulations, quality standards, and health and safety requirements in manufacturing settings.
  • Experience operating and adjusting both automated and manual processing machinery; knowledge of PLC systems is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot basic problems, and execute production changeovers.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to precisely complete production and quality documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of functioning well within team environments.
  • Ability to work under different production conditions including hot, cold, humid, wet, and dusty environments.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving up to 25 kg (55 lbs) regularly.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work on rotating shifts including days (6:30am–3:00pm), afternoons (2:30pm–11:00pm), and nights (10:30pm–7:00am).
