Job Overview

The Barista plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding coffee, beverage creations, and excellent customer service within hotel food and beverage outlets. This role demands skill in preparing and serving a variety of coffee, tea, specialty drinks, and other menu selections following established recipes and hotel quality guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a broad assortment of coffee drinks, espresso-based beverages, teas, and specialty beverages adhering to standardized recipes and presentation norms.
• Operate coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Exhibit expertise in espresso extraction, milk frothing, beverage crafting, and basic latte art as applicable.
• Ensure drink quality by maintaining consistency in taste, temperature, portioning, and presentation.
• Adjust beverage formulations to guest preferences without compromising standards.
• Continuously monitor ingredient freshness and quality, including coffee, milk, syrups, and garnishes.
• Provide warm, friendly, and professional service to guests, taking orders accurately and responding to inquiries or concerns promptly and courteously.
• Offer knowledgeable recommendations regarding drinks and food offerings.
• Handle complaint resolutions diplomatically and escalate issues when needed.
• Accurately process transactions, including cash and card payments, using the hotel's POS system while adhering to proper cash management protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene at the workstation, equipment, and service areas following health and safety regulations.
• Manage inventory by tracking stock levels, reporting shortages or damages, overseeing proper storage and rotation of supplies, and supporting stock counting activities.
• Conduct routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Uphold hotel standards for service quality, grooming, hygiene, and professionalism, while safeguarding guest confidentiality.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Formal barista training or relevant hospitality/food and beverage certifications are advantageous.
• Prior experience in barista roles, café service, or hospitality customer-facing positions is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of coffee preparation techniques including espresso, milk steaming, and basic latte art.
• Familiarity with coffee equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitization, and hygiene best practices.
• Experience using POS systems and handling cash transactions proficiently.
• Basic inventory management and stock rotation knowledge.
• Physical ability to stand and walk extensively and handle repetitive tasks like lifting and operating equipment.
• Capability to work effectively during busy periods and adapt to variable schedules including weekends and holidays.
