Backend Software Engineer Graduate - Global Live Data Platform (2027 Intake)

About the Role

With live streaming experiencing exceptional expansion, our mission centers on inspiring real-time engagement and enabling streamers to connect globally. We seek passionate engineers to design and enhance a robust, high-performance, distributed infrastructure for TikTok's live streaming ecosystem. You will be deeply involved throughout the development lifecycle of key product features and collaborate with product managers to ensure an excellent live streaming experience for broadcasters and viewers.

Platform Overview

The TikTok Live Data Platform comprises various subsystems such as the Index Platform, Label Platform, Portrait Platform, Diagnostic Platform, Data Asset Management Platform, and Data Suite. These systems manage streaming compute processing, offline pipelines, and storage solutions including OLAP (Clickhouse/Doris) and key-value stores. This platform serves TikTok app users and agency backstage data applications while continuously evolving internal tools for data analysis and diagnostics. Cutting-edge research and development is actively promoted to drive technology-led business insights.

What You Will Do

• Plan and lead expansive technical projects establishing foundations for iterative product development and scaling
• Create highly reliable, scalable technology serving over one billion users
• Shape engineering strategies, tooling, workflows, and organizational culture
• Investigate and integrate state-of-the-art domain expertise and engineering approaches into products

Candidate Requirements

• Recent graduates or soon-to-be graduates holding a Bachelor's degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields
• Proven experience or strong understanding of building scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed, and critical production systems
• Solid grasp of computer architecture principles, algorithms, and data structures
• Effective communication skills enabling collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders
• Self-motivated, cooperative, optimistic with a continual passion for learning

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior exposure to engineering in large-scale internet companies is advantageous
