Assortment Planning Assistant

Role Overview

The Assortment Planning Assistant will aid in organizing and analyzing product assortments to guarantee the availability of appropriate products in specified categories and sales channels. This role involves close collaboration with teams from merchandising, purchasing, inventory management, sales, and operations to support assortment-related decisions, ultimately aiming to enhance product accessibility and overall business results.

Primary Duties

• Support the creation and upkeep of product assortment strategies.
• Evaluate sales data, stock quantities, product trends, and category statistics to guide assortment choices.
• Ensure product, category, pricing, and assortment data are accurately updated in relevant information systems.
• Participate in product selection processes, review of product ranges, planning for seasonal inventory changes, product introductions, and phasing out of items.
• Track product stock status and detect gaps, surplus inventories, or possible shortages in assortments.
• Generate reports on assortment, analyze sales trends, summarize inventory, and prepare planning presentations.
• Assist in monitoring product performance and identify ways to enhance assortment efficiency.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with merchandising, purchasing, inventory, sales, and operational units to ensure accurate execution of assortment strategies.
• Support planning for promotions and seasonal product assortments.
• Maintain comprehensive and current product and assortment documentation and planning files.
• Perform data analysis and provide insights to assist in commercial planning activities.
• Monitor progress on assortment-related tasks and ensure follow-up on pending items.
• Contribute to process enhancements aimed at improving planning precision, stock availability, and operational processes.
• Undertake other related administrative and analytical tasks as part of assortment planning responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Possess a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field.
• Understand the principles of retail operations, merchandising, product assortment, sales dynamics, and inventory control.
• Exhibit strong analytical abilities and a keen eye for detail.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.
• Capable of organizing, analyzing, and interpreting relevant data.
