Job Summary
As an Assistant Store Manager based in Coquitlam, British Columbia, you will lead and develop a retail team to deliver outstanding customer service, helping pet owners find suitable nutrition and care solutions for their pets. This role offers excellent growth opportunities in a pet-focused retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all customer service standards are consistently met by staff while maintaining positive community relationships, including with organizations like the Humane Society.
- Lead employee management tasks such as recruiting, scheduling, training, task delegation, supervision, and coaching.
- Oversee compliance with corporate operational standards and procedures among the team.
- Manage store operations including order placements, inventory control, store and safety audits, coordination of minor repairs, and completion of corporate paperwork.
- Drive store performance by organizing team efforts to reach sales and operational targets.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support store functions.
Candidate Profile
- At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
- A keen interest in learning and advancing within the pet care industry.
- An outgoing and approachable nature coupled with strong customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work scheduled shifts including weekends and evenings.
- Reliable transportation to and from the store location.
- Ability to observe and coach staff on sales techniques and excellent customer care.
- Skill in handling team conflicts and escalating when appropriate.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Previous industry experience is considered advantageous.
