About the Role

Raigmore Hospital's Acute Adult Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Clinical Practitioner Service is actively seeking Band 4 Assistant Practitioners to join a highly skilled and well-established team. The team consists of over 30 qualified Advanced Practitioners, several trainees, and a committed group of Assistant Practitioners who support medical and advanced practice staff. Services cover specialties such as Hospital at Night, General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Frailty, General & Acute Medicine, and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).

Key Responsibilities

The position involves providing both clinical and administrative assistance to medical and nursing staff within a physically and emotionally challenging environment. Duties include undertaking a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks delegated by registered healthcare professionals. The Assistant Practitioner will perform minor clinical procedures such as venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, assist with medical interventions, and support emergency and cardiac arrest teams. Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, and weekends is required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Completion of a relevant healthcare qualification at SCQF level 7-8 or higher (e.g., Higher National Certificate/Diploma or Professional Development Award at Level 8).
  • Possession of at least three national qualifications including a Standard Grade pass (or equivalent) in English and two additional subjects.
  • Strong communication skills with proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Recent experience (within the last 2 years) working in an acute hospital environment with demonstrable application to the Assistant Practitioner role.
  • Evidence of completion of Mandatory Induction Standards or an equivalent qualification if employed outside NHS Scotland.
