Team Overview

The Regulatory Effectiveness group at WorkSafe was created to enhance regulatory focus by refining risk understanding, intervention design, and impact evaluation. The Product Design and Development team is dedicated to creating and managing user-centered products, guidance, and content that improve health and safety outcomes nationwide.

Role Summary

As AI Enablement Lead, you will have a pivotal role in steering how artificial intelligence is leveraged to improve WorkSafe’s products and services. This position offers operational leadership to foster AI integration in product management and development by working closely with diverse stakeholders to translate emerging AI technologies into effective business applications. You will foster functional capabilities, champion continuous enhancements, and ensure all AI implementations comply with regulatory and quality frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Product Leads, policy advisors, and digital teams to incorporate AI capabilities within product development cycles.
  • Design, refine, and evolve AI agents, prompt libraries, and AI-based solutions that support product processes.
  • Discover opportunities throughout the product lifecycle for enhancing research, drafting, testing, and content upkeep through AI.
  • Coach and mentor teams to build sustainable AI skills and operational practices.
  • Ensure AI-generated deliverables adhere to governance policies, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in workflow analysis and converting operational challenges into practical AI and automation solutions.
  • Capability to architect and improve AI-enabled workflows, including prompt design and scalable agent frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of prompt engineering, contextual instruction, and necessary human review for trustworthy AI outputs.
  • Experience in capacity-building via coaching, mentoring, and practical advice to teams working with AI.
  • Understanding of governance, information management, and risk mitigation to safely adopt AI technologies.
  • Ability to foster partnerships, influence cross-functional teams, and promote innovative working methods.

Relevant AI experience can stem from professional roles or personal projects fueled by curiosity. Candidates are encouraged to showcase all pertinent AI engagements in their applications.

Salary and Benefits

The position offers a salary range from $112,754 to $147,932 NZD, with an expected base between $112,754 and $124,480 NZD excluding employer superannuation contributions, which will increase to 3.5% from April 2026. Additional benefits include 5 weeks of annual leave, 15 days of sick leave, options for flexible working hours, recognition programs celebrating employee contributions, professional development opportunities, and participation in employee-driven networks supporting diverse communities.
