Job description

Job Overview

The AI Director role focuses on leading the creation, execution, and expansion of AI-driven solutions across the organization. This involves translating clinical, operational, and business priorities into concrete, measurable outcomes while managing a center of excellence for AI. The role involves steering the AI strategy, governance, and capability building, and working closely with various stakeholders to design, validate, deploy, monitor, and grow impactful AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the enterprise AI strategy by transforming group-wide priorities into actionable plans and a project portfolio.
  • Prioritize a diverse portfolio of AI projects across clinical AI, predictive analytics, operational efficiency, automation, patient engagement, natural language processing, generative AI, and emerging technologies based on value, feasibility, and impact.
  • Lead AI initiatives through the full lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to production deployment, adoption, and scaling.
  • Collaborate directly with software developers, data engineers, clinicians, and business units to build applicable AI solutions, ensuring prototypes have clear paths to enterprise adoption.
  • Provide technical leadership on AI architectures and technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, LLMs, generative AI, and automation.
  • Implement MLOps and LLMOps systems to ensure robust, scalable, and secure AI operations including monitoring, version control, retraining, and lifecycle management.
  • Engage closely with clinical teams to align AI projects with healthcare workflows, ensuring interoperability with electronic medical records and use of healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Oversee AI governance frameworks ensuring compliance with legal, privacy, cybersecurity, ethical, and regulatory requirements, embedding responsible AI principles across solutions.
  • Manage data readiness by collaborating with data engineering and informatics teams to assure data quality, accessibility, and governance suitable for AI applications.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and due diligence for proposed AI technologies, leading proof of concept assessments and guiding procurement decisions.
  • Define and monitor measurable success metrics for AI initiatives, fostering adoption, evaluating impact, and managing portfolio performance.
  • Build and lead the Group's AI Center of Excellence, recruiting and developing multidisciplinary teams, establishing standards, tools, and reusable components.
  • Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies, fostering research partnerships, supporting applied AI research and potential commercialization of AI assets.
  • Champion continuous improvement and uphold organizational values including person-centered care, safety, confidentiality, cybersecurity compliance, and ethics.
