About Our Organisation
Heritage Lifecare, one of New Zealand's leading aged and dementia care providers, operates 42 care homes and 20 villages nationwide, fostering a nurturing, diverse community driven by compassion and care.
Broadview Lifecare, located in the scenic riverside city of Whanganui, is an 85-bed care home and hospital featuring a 27-unit village and offering four levels of care including specialised psychogeriatric services, providing excellent growth opportunities for staff.
Role Overview
We offer a permanent full-time role (32 hours per week) involving morning and weekend shifts at Broadview Lifecare as an Activities Assistant. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in residents' lives through compassionate care and by fostering a supportive, kind environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and deliver activities, outings, and events tailored to the physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs of residents.
- Encourage resident involvement in community groups and support a team environment that creates a safe, caring atmosphere.
- Build meaningful, lasting relationships with residents and their families while assisting team members as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving roles, preferably within aged care settings.
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities.
- Possession of a valid full New Zealand driver’s license and confidence in operating a van.
- Enthusiasm for assisting others, with excellent customer service skills and a positive, friendly disposition.
- A strong commitment to ongoing improvement and adherence to health and safety protocols.
