Accountant

Overview

ZAWAYA, a growing perfume and retail company based in Doha, Qatar, is looking to hire an Accountant with experience in accounting operations and inventory management using Odoo ERP. Key Responsibilities

• Enter accounting data accurately and promptly in Odoo ERP.
• Record and process daily accounting transactions ensuring proper documentation and support.
• Review entries for errors, missing details, or unusual activities.
• Monitor accounting data and reports within Odoo for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with reconciliations of customer and supplier accounts.
• Maintain complete supporting documents for all accounting transactions.
• Adhere to company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Help resolve discrepancies related to accounting and system issues.
• Track inventory transactions in Odoo including purchases, sales, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
• Assist with inventory reconciliations and related accounting tasks.
• Support monthly physical stock counts and reconciliation efforts.
• Contribute to accurate month-end stock closing by ensuring timely recording of inventory transactions.
• Monitor slow-moving and exceptional inventory, preparing necessary reports.
• Coordinate with warehouse, retail, and commercial teams on inventory discrepancies and corrections.
• Identify and follow up on unusual or incorrect transactions in Odoo inventory reports.
• Support finance team during the monthly closing process by ensuring all relevant accounting and inventory transactions are recorded.
• Prepare regular accounting and inventory reports as required.
• Extract and analyze financial and operational reports from Odoo.
• Assist in account reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for management reporting and audits.
• Ensure timely and accurate report preparation by agreed deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• Two to four years of practical accounting experience.
• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Good knowledge in inventory accounting and stock control procedures.
• Hands-on experience with Odoo ERP is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and handling financial and operational datasets.
• Experience supporting month-end closing processes and performing account reconciliations.
• Background in retail, trading, FMCG, manufacturing, or other inventory-heavy sectors is advantageous.
