Create a Wonderful World Initiative is a registered non-governmental organization operating in Borno State, Nigeria, dedicated to enhancing the well-being of children and communities. CWI envisions a future where boys and girls enjoy equal opportunities in education and health care, and are shielded from all abuse. The organization pursues interventions in Health, Education, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Protection, Women’s empowerment, and resilience against climate change impacts. Collaboration with community members and partners is central to formulating sustainable and rights-centered solutions.

Role Overview

The Accountability Officer position is a full-time, on-location role based in Maiduguri. This position is tasked with creating, executing, and sustaining systems for accountability and feedback within CWI’s projects. Key duties include overseeing complaint and feedback mechanisms, systematically recording and interpreting community input, and relaying insights to program teams to guide project decisions. The role involves training staff and community representatives on accountability protocols, safeguarding standards, and ethical management of data. Additionally, the Accountability Officer will generate routine reports, cooperate with monitoring and evaluation units, and ensure adherence to internal and donor accountability frameworks.

Qualifications and Expertise Required

• Proficient in monitoring and evaluation techniques, including data gathering and analytical skills capable of converting community feedback into practical action points.
• Experienced with the design and administration of complaint and feedback systems, emphasizing secure and confidential handling of sensitive information.
• Competent in report composition, documentation, and fundamental computer applications such as MS Office and data entry tools.
• Strong communicator and facilitator, adept at engaging diverse community segments, including children and marginalized populations.
• Knowledgeable about accountability to affected populations, protection concepts, and safeguarding practices within humanitarian or development spheres.
• Proven ability to operate effectively onsite, manage time appropriately, and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams under challenging conditions.
• Academic credentials in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, or related disciplines.
• Prior experience with NGOs or community-based initiatives focused on Health, Education, WASH, Protection, Women’s empowerment, or climate resilience is advantageous.
• Understanding of the local context in Maiduguri/Borno and capability to communicate in local languages is highly desirable.
