Software Developer (GoLang & AWS)

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer proficient in Go (Golang) and AWS to join our Sydney based team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting robust backend applications and microservices within a cloud-native environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain backend systems and microservices using Go.
• Create and support serverless applications leveraging AWS Lambda and related cloud services.
• Design efficient data models and optimize access patterns with Amazon DynamoDB.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven applications.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab CI/CD tools.
• Engage in architecture planning, solution design, and participate in technical decision-making processes.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve business and technology objectives.
• Conduct code reviews and promote adherence to software engineering best practices.
• Diagnose and resolve application performance, reliability, and scalability challenges.
• Document technical details and provide production support including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven commercial experience programming in Go (Golang).
• Hands-on work experience within AWS cloud ecosystems.
• Proficiency with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, and S3.
• Experience in building and maintaining serverless applications.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Design and development expertise of RESTful APIs.
• Competence in source control, branching, and CI/CD automation via GitLab.
• Solid understanding of software design principles, clean code standards, and testing methodologies.
• Experience working in Agile software development teams.
• Extensive understanding of NoSQL database design, tuning, and scalability related to DynamoDB.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with cloud governance or analytics platforms such as Augur.
• Experience managing large scale data migration and transformation projects.
• Skill in Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of event-driven systems and messaging queues such as SNS, SQS, EventBridge, or Kafka.
• Understanding observability, monitoring, and logging solutions.
