About Sprout and the Role

At Sprout, Shift Leaders are crucial to shaping the atmosphere within our restaurants, ensuring an enjoyable environment for both team members and guests. As a Shift Leader, you'll take the helm during shifts, maintaining smooth operations during busy periods and fostering a workplace people look forward to joining and customers want to revisit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily shifts by organizing team roles clearly and maintaining momentum throughout busy times.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by making patrons feel genuinely welcomed and supported, while monitoring the dining environment for any needs.
  • Support team members by providing clear communication, offering constructive feedback in real-time, and building their confidence.
  • Maintain a positive and energetic atmosphere through effective teamwork, recognition, and fostering enjoyment at work.
  • Uphold high standards for food quality, portion control, presentation, and overall restaurant appearance, promptly addressing any issues.
  • Ensure the restaurant stays prepared by overseeing cleanliness, stock levels, checklists, and routine tasks essential for smooth operation.
  • Enforce safety by making certain that all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety protocols are understood and followed during shifts.
  • Be attentive to feedback from customers and staff, resolving issues promptly and reporting insights to the Restaurant Leader to drive continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

  • You proactively take initiative to get tasks done efficiently.
  • You enjoy working with and assisting others.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and keep calm under pressure.
  • You’re comfortable providing feedback when necessary.
  • You notice details and care about maintaining standards.
  • You’re dependable and a supportive teammate.
  • You’re eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and motivated to develop leadership skills.
  • You bring positive energy and are willing to be hands-on.

Please note, if you prefer to avoid leadership challenges or conflict resolution, this role might not be a good fit.

Experience Required

Ideally, you have approximately one year of experience in hospitality or a similarly fast-moving environment. Prior leadership experience is not mandatory; what’s important is your readiness to take responsibility, communicate effectively, and grow your leadership capabilities.
