Role Overview
The Program Coordinator is tasked with overseeing national coordination, governance for scheduling, and workforce mobilisation within the National Observing Operations (NOO). This position ensures that operational resources, logistics, schedules, and capabilities are well aligned to effectively support maintenance, capital works, project execution, and strategic initiatives throughout the Bureau's observation networks.
Key Responsibilities
This role involves establishing and maintaining a consistent, nationwide scheduling and resource planning framework across NOO. It ensures harmonization between service programs, maintenance tasks, capital projects, workforce availability, operational priorities, and stakeholder needs. Furthermore, it provides national oversight of how the workforce is utilized and how field deployments are planned, promoting efficiencies by coordinating travel, combining logistics, integrating multi-network maintenance activities, and strategically allocating resources.
Special Focus
A significant priority over the next three to four years is supporting the Bureau's AWS Replacement Program. The coordinator will lead the scheduling and deployment of replacement equipment at over 700 sites including locations across Australia, Antarctica, and offshore territories. This role acts as the crucial liaison connecting project delivery teams with operational maintenance centers to guarantee readiness of workforce, integrated scheduling, logistical support, training preparation, and smooth operational transitions.
