Role Overview

Our Technology team creates the critical systems that drive Revolut. From infrastructure supporting our innovative app to features relied upon by millions globally, the team applies sharp analytical skills, rapid execution, and a commitment to meaningful impact. We seek a Lead Backend Engineer to maintain slim frameworks that prioritize clean, maintainable code delivered rapidly using test-driven development (TDD), domain-driven design (DDD), and continuous integration and delivery.

As a member of the SSO team, you will ensure secure, dependable, and scalable authentication across Revolut’s ecosystem.

Our technology stack features Java 17/21, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, NewRelic, PostgreSQL, Redis, Spock, jOOQ, and Flyway.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop microservices to enhance and evolve Revolut’s backend architecture.
• Refine essential business-critical systems such as risk management, fraud detection, and payment processing.
• Lead both greenfield projects and upgrades to existing software.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Proficient in Java programming language.
• Minimum of six years of experience in backend software development.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Strong ability to rapidly assimilate new information, characterized by an ambitious, results-focused approach.
• Team-oriented mindset comfortable working in a fast-moving environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluent in English.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Familiarity with Kotlin or Scala languages.
• Background in the financial services sector.
• Experience working in startups or fast-growing companies.
• Exposure to product-centric development environments.
