About the Role
The Department of Physics at Indian Institute of Technology Patna invites motivated and passionate candidates to apply for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under the National Quantum Mission (NQM). This role involves contributing to a cutting-edge project developing cold atom-based quantum memory units tailored for a multi-node quantum repeater network aimed at entanglement distribution for quantum communication.
Project Overview
This project is part of India's National Quantum Mission under the Quantum Communication vertical. The team focuses on exploiting slow-light phenomena in alkali vapors and ultracold atoms to realize long-range secure quantum communications. Collaboration opportunities include work with leading Indian institutions and industry partners, including RRI Bengaluru, IIT Tirupati, HRI Prayagraj, IISER Mohali, and the Mission HUB at IIT Madras, along with partner companies like IITM CDOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation.
Responsibilities
- Engage in hands-on experimentation and development of cold atom-based quantum memory systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and national as well as international research groups.
- Contribute to data acquisition, simulation, programming, and analysis related to quantum optics and atomic physics.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Strong interest and background in experimental physics, quantum technologies, optics, and atomic physics.
- Ability to work with complex experimental setups involving optics and electronics.
- Proficiency in data acquisition, programming, simulation, and analytical techniques related to quantum science.
